Westminster Biblical Missions to Pakistan - March 1999
Rev. Earl E. Pinckney - Field Secretary
Rev. Sardar Ahmed Din - Missionary
Dear Partners in Missions,
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go, I will guide you with my eye.” The promises of God as found in Psalm 32:8 have always been the foundation for the ministry in Pakistan. The following report will show His clear leading in the past few months. We are greatly encouraged as we see His eye (providence) leading us step by step. Please join us in praising Him for his mercy and grace which have been continually manifested to us.
Rev. Emmanuel Gill’s back problem had become so severe that he could not continue to function. An operation was performed and was successful. He is on his way to a complete recovery according to our last reports. When it was learned that he would need $800.00 for the operation, two praying friends provided these funds.
We have been making strong requests for the monthly support needed to open and operate the dispensary. By God’s grace, the dispensary will open March 1st as a result of those who have made a monthly pledge, and also to a rather large gift given to the mission
We received a request for $500.00 to purchase ten sewing machines and supplies needed to start sewing classes for the older girls. This will be taught by Sardar’s wife Anila. Again, the funds were available, and the classes either have begun or will very soon.
Rev. Sardar requested $195.00, which represents three month’s salary, to give to the family of one of our teachers who died suddenly. When a friend of the mission who had visited the field heard of it, she willingly donated the money.
We received an urgent appeal to grant a ten percent increase in all salaries because the cost of living has increased to the point that many families are only able to eat two meals a day, which mainly consist of things necessary to live. The Lord has recently blessed us, so we have had sufficient funds to begin giving this increase. However, we now need for some to give special gifts, or to increase their giving by ten percent. By faith, we have added $340.00 per month to the budget. We are praying that we will be able to continue the increase.
We have often mentioned that Christians do not want their children to go to the public schools because of pressure put on the children to convert to Islam. One article in the enclosed “The Church Around the World” involves a Pakistani family whose three children were taken from them because the children had converted to Islam. The mob claimed that these children should not be permitted to remain in their Christian home. This situation urges us to do all that we can, not only to enlarge Calvin Academy’s numbers by ones and twos, but also to help open the eyes of others so that Christian families and children are not subjected to such cruel persecution.
God made it clear that I was not to go to Pakistan in March. The Pakistanis have asked me to join others who are going to Pakistan in October for the convention. God willing, I will also take part in the seminary graduation, and join in the celebration of the dispensary opening. Please pray for the $2,500.00 needed for transportation and other expenses.
We have invited Sardar to come to the US from July to the first part of September, for the purpose of visiting some of our supporting churches and to help raise the funds needed for the expanding works. This year we begin the 10th and final grade in the high school program. Next year’s plans call for the beginning of a two year college program for those qualified to receive further training. This will require additional classroom space as well as teachers and staff. As we contemplate all of this, we are amazed at what God has done in the last twenty-six years. Can you imagine what God may do in the next few years as we continue to follow His leading? We invite you to continue with us as we follow Him. Thank you for your prayers and giving to His work.
We are also thankful to Tyndale House Publishers, who graciously gave us the copies of “The Church Around the World” without charge which we are including in this newsletter.
