Dear Friends and Co-laborers in Missions,
Greetings in the blessed name of our Lord Jesus Christ, the only Saviour of the World. (John 4:42)
The prophet Malachi, nearly four hundred years before Christ gave the great commission, wrote these words, ‘My name will be great among the nations, from the rising to the setting of the sun. In every place incense and pure offerings will be brought to my name, because my name will be great among the nations,’ says the LORD Almighty (Malachi 1:11). If we had no other words in Scripture, the prophet’s words alone would be enough to encourage God’s people to do the work of world wide missions. Most of the world does not know and believe in the name of Jesus Christ, the only true God. God the Father wants the name of His Son to be held in highest esteem among all the nations/people on the earth. Scripture teaches that the missionary is to testify that the name of the only true and living God is Jesus Christ for it is in His name alone that salvation is found. Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). It is not the name of the missionary or the mission agency, but the name of Jesus Christ that embodies the Gospel and salvation.
How sweet the name of Jesus sounds
In a believer’s ear!
It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds,
And drives away his fear!John Newton (1725-1807)
Please pray for our missionaries to faithfully extol the name of Jesus Christ before the nations. Pray also that God will provide, both for body and soul, for our missionaries and coworkers on our fields. The needs are great, but the importance of the work we are doing is even greater.
Thank you dear friends for your faithful prayers and support on our behalf.
In Christ’s Service and Yours,
Dennis E. Roe, General Secretary
All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. For the kingdom is the LORDS: and he is the governor among the nations.— Psalm 22:27-28
