Dear Co-laborers in Missions,

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! The Westminster Biblical Missions Newsletters are designed to give you current updates on the growing progress of the Lord’s work in Pakistan. Future WBM Newsletters will feature various ministries employed to further the kingdom of God in that country. This month’s issue focuses on the training of men for the gospel ministry at the Presbyterian Theological Seminary at Lahore, Pakistan. We want to keep you informed of the ministries of Westminster Biblical Missions, so that you may gain a more detailed understanding of the matters to keep in prayer as well as the financial contributions needed to support the work of the Lord.

The Providential Seminary Beginning

The Presbyterian Theological Seminary at Lahore arose from “…a small group of believers under the leadership of an elder (who) formed the Bible-Believing Lahore Church Council Lahore (BBLCCL).” (Rev. Sardar Din) Looking for help to establish faithful reformed churches in Pakistan, the elder was sent to seek assistance from friends in the United States. “Some faithful believers responded to the call (to Pakistan). They got together and formed Westminster Biblical Missions (WBM) to help the Bible Believing Lahore Church Council Lahore for the cause of Christ. The first request by the Bible Believing Lahore Church Council Lahore was to open a seminary in order to train young men for the ministry. We thank the Lord that WBM helped the Bible Believing

Lahore Church Council Lahore to open the seminary in 1974. Praise the Lord that 80% (of the pastors) in the Bible Believing Lahore Church Council Lahore are graduates from our seminary.” (Rev. Sardar Din)

The Purpose For Establishing the Seminary

The purpose in starting the Presbyterian Theological Seminary at Lahore was for the following reasons:

  1. To train young people who would have the effectual call from the Lord to do His bidding in the land of Pakistan.
  2. To build people in the Lord by giving His true Word and doctrine.
  3. To make the people aware of the snare of liberalism and the apostasy of the liberals.
  4. To teach Christians the importance of right living from the Word of God.
  5. To teach as the Apostle says, ‘…have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.’
  6. The young people in this seminary will teach the difference between the Christian and non-Christians…
  7. These young men are trained to teach that people cannot mix light with darkness as the apostate teach and preach …” (Rev. Sardar Din)

The Lord’s Faithfulness

In order to establish and maintain faithful Presbyterian churches in Pakistan, it is imperative to train pastors in a seminary that is faithful and uncompromising in the Word of God. As co-laborers in the gospel, we must support the Presbyterian Theological Seminary at Lahore, Pakistan. The seminary trains its pastors to take a firm stand against the liberalism and apostasy of other existing seminaries and churches in Pakistan that are affiliated with the Presbyterian Church of Pakistan (influenced by the liberal Presbyterian Church of the USA). Modernism and apostasy in many of the Presbyterian churches in Pakistan have been promoted by liberals through the New Confession of Faith of 1967. Various liberal and apostate church groups introduced and promoted that New Confession of Faith through their schools, colleges, missions and churches.” (Rev. Sardar Din) Our seminary is the only one in the area offering an alternative to modernistic teaching.
